Delicate lingerie needs gentle care – especially underwired bras, lace and elastic fabrics. That is why at KAROline you will find concentrated SOAK detergents for hand washing: practical for everyday care of lingerie, swimwear and other items that need a gentler approach.

Why use a detergent for delicate lingerie?

In a well-fitted bra, not only the cups and band matter, but also the fabrics, elastics and underwires that work together with the body during wear. Intensive washing, high temperatures and strong spinning can shorten their lifespan. That is why we recommend hand washing underwired bras – without using a washing machine, even in a laundry bag.

SOAK is a concentrated, low-foaming detergent designed for delicate fabrics. When hand washing, there is no need to rub the fabric vigorously – it is enough to let the garments soak gently in water with a small amount of detergent.

How to wash a bra with SOAK?

Add about 5 ml of detergent, roughly one teaspoon, to a bowl of cool water. You can wash several small items in the same bowl. Leave the lingerie to soak for several minutes without vigorous rubbing, then rinse gently and press out excess water. Do not wring the bra.

SOAK was developed as a no-rinse formula, but for lingerie the manufacturer recommends rinsing the detergent out. This is also the method we recommend for bras.

Sample sachet or 375 ml bottle?

If you would like to try a particular fragrance first, you can choose a 5 ml sachet – enough for one bowl of water. The small format is also convenient for travel, for example when you want to hand wash lingerie or swimwear while away.

For regular use, the 375 ml bottles are the more practical option. The manufacturer states that one bottle lasts for more than 75 washes, so it goes a long way. When several bras are washed together by hand, the amount of detergent used remains very small.

Not only for lingerie

We also use SOAK for knitwear care. Agnieszka washes handmade NitkoweLove hats in it after making them. The detergent is suitable for wool and cashmere, but with knitwear the washing method is just as important: cool water, no rubbing or wringing, and drying flat.

The SOAK formula is biodegradable and contains no dyes, phosphates or sulphates. Different fragrance options are available, as well as Scentless for those who prefer an unscented version.

Frequently asked questions

Can an underwired bra be washed in a washing machine in a laundry bag?

We do not recommend this. At KAROline, we recommend hand washing underwired bras only, in line with the manufacturer’s care instructions. A laundry bag may protect lingerie from some mechanical damage, but it does not eliminate the risks caused by underwires moving during the wash cycle, spinning or excessive stretching of the fabrics. If damage is caused by washing the bra contrary to the manufacturer’s care instructions, this may be grounds for rejecting a complaint related to that damage.

Is SOAK suitable for swimwear?

Yes. It can be used for hand washing swimwear and other items made from delicate and elastic fabrics.

Does SOAK need to be rinsed out?

The formula is designed as no-rinse, but for lingerie the manufacturer recommends rinsing it out. For bras, this is the method we recommend.
