JANKA thick winter beanie – when does it work best?
JANKA is a classic turn-up beanie, hand-knitted from a single thick strand of wool. The chunky knit and single rib create a bold, thick texture that works well as a warm winter beanie for everyday wear, walks and city winter days. The Plum Wine colour gives a muted look, but one that feels less obvious than other dark beanies.
- Thick wool beanie – the substantial knit and turn-up help retain warmth, making it a good winter hat for both women and men.
- Stretchy rib knit – the beanie adjusts to the shape of the head and stays in place, while the turn-up lets you adjust how far it covers the forehead and ears.
- Beanie with a light natural fuzz – the surface of the knit is mostly smooth, with a slight halo typical of wool, which visually highlights its thickness and handmade character.
- Against the skin – this sheep’s wool may feel slightly itchy on very sensitive skin; if you have strong sensory sensitivity, it may be worth wearing it with a thin headband or choosing another, gentler wool.
- Hand-knitted – each thick yarn beanie is a separate piece, and the knit itself is substantial and simple, without decorative textures, making it easy to pair with everyday winter clothing.
- Eco-leather label – it can be unclipped for washing or if you prefer a completely plain wool beanie without extras.
- Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certified wool – the yarn has been tested for harmful substances, which may matter if you pay attention to material safety.
How to care for your wool beanie
Like most thick wool beanies, JANKA does best with infrequent but careful washing. Hand washing in cool water is recommended, using a gentle wool detergent and no fabric softener. After washing, gently press out excess water in a towel and dry flat, reshaping the beanie as it dries – this helps maintain the elasticity of the knit and reduce felting.
